Myalgia describes pain that occurs in one or a specific muscle group, and is a common symptom after strenuous physical activity or after muscle trauma.

The most common cause of muscle pain is sports activity that is not performed correctly. When physical effort is exerted, any movement may require the activation of a different group of muscles, and any incorrect movement leads to injury and temporary damage to one muscle or a group of muscles.

The muscle may need 48 hours to heal after being injured as a result of strenuous physical activity, with the need to take adequate rest.

Symptoms of muscle pain:

*Muscle pain.
*Redness and swelling.
*Difficulty moving.


The most common causes of muscle pain are:

*Stress or psychological pressure.
* Physical activity or physical effort for long periods.
* Sprain or strain of part of the muscle.
*Fibromyalgia syndrome.
* Suffering from an autoimmune disease.
*Infection with staphylococcal bacteria
* Infection with some infectious diseases, such as: malaria and influenza.
* Taking some medications such as: Amphotericin B, Carbenoxolone, Chloroquine, Clofibrate, and Hydroxychloroquine.

Complications of muscle pain:
The complications that can be caused by muscle pain vary depending on the cause of the disease, and performing any physical activity while having muscle pain may cause the pain to intensify and prolong the recovery period.

Diagnosis of muscle pain:
The condition is diagnosed based on the patient's medical history, and it is important to diagnose the cause of muscle pain in order to give appropriate treatment, as taking the wrong treatment may cause the condition to worsen.

Treating muscle pain:
Muscle pain can be treated through the following:

*Take adequate rest, especially when the pain is caused by physical exertion.
*Use warm or cold compresses to relieve pain.
*Do simple exercises to relieve pain, such as walking or swimming.
*See a doctor if the pain is chronic and does not disappear within 3 days or if other symptoms appear.

Prevention of muscle pain:
In general, it is preferable to avoid strenuous exercise as much as possible, to avoid any muscle pain.
